The renovation of Soho East (formerly East Broadway) envelops visitors within a warm environment inspired by the industrial-scaled loft spaces and artistic culture of Soho. Accents of illumination—with ceiling bays painted in graduating intensities of neutral grays, and pedestrian bridges illuminated with backlit, overlapping, light-diffusing acrylic panels—and the dynamic effect of the striped flooring pattern create a youthful energy that is sophisticated and modern. Within the East Rotunda, the existing elevator core now imparts a dramatic presence, with new finish of backlit technical metal mesh.
