Gabellini Sheppard Designs the Sotheby's Preferred Lounge at the Spring New York Sales

Gabellini Sheppard Associates partnered with Sotheby's to design the Preferred Members’ Room for this year's spring New York Sales. Open exclusively to Sotheby’s Preferred Members, we’re giving you a rare glimpse inside the space.

Curated by and our interior design team and founding partner Michael Gabellini, the lounge showcased gallery-quality, limited edition pieces from a few of our favorite artists and vendors, including Warp & Weft, Marc Philips, Vladimir Kagan, Douglas Fanning, Lasvit, Ercole Home, Les Ateliers Courbet, ddc, Otto Binx, Venfield, Liaigre, and Love House.

Inspired by the magic of spring’s first bloom, our team crafted a calm, comfortable sanctuary full of texture, landscape, and light. Sotheby’s’ curators selected pieces from their private sales department for display in the lounge, including paintings and sculptures. 

The New York Sales at Sotheby’s is one of the city’s most exciting and anticipated events, taking place over two weeks in May and coinciding with the official New York Art and Design Weeks. Masterworks from some of the world’s most recognized and innovative artists were offered for sale this year, including René Magritte, Gustav Klimt, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Gerard Richter, David Hockey, Mark Rothko, and Pablo Picasso.
